Post-Disaster Programs
Sokola Neuheun
An emergency response program after the tsunami hit Aceh on 26 December 2004. This program focuses on assisting children and distributing aid to survivors in the refugee camp of Neuheun Village, Aceh Besar. Sokola's volunteer lives with the refugees at the camp.
Sokola Lamno
From 2005-2007, Sokola conducted post-disaster program for children and adults in 3 villages in Aceh Jaya district to face the post-tsunami (December 2004) challenges where up to 65% of the community lost their lives. Sokola's volunteers lived with the communities in the refugee camps, assisting them to rebuild their lives. Sokola also facilitated the availability of micro finance, a children centre, vocational training, and delivered school lessons.
Sokola Pariaman
In September 2009, right after 9 on the Richter Scale of earthquake hit West Sumatera, Sokola sent volunteers to assist the refugees, especially the children. During the emergency situation, Sokola coordinated with other organization to distribute aid as well as established children shelter, provide medical examination, and help school re-organize learning activities.
Cianjur
In 2009, a 5 on Richter Scale of earthquake hit West Java not only damaged houses but also caused landslides in Cianjur. Sokola sent volunteers to join the emergency response program in there.
Kampung Dukuh
The customary village of Dukuh in Garut, West Java was burned by fire in October 2006. Sokola assisted the community to rebuild their traditional mosque and to re-document their written cultural heritage that was destroyed in the fire. The mosque for the Dukuh community is not only a place of worship, but also a centre for cultural activities.
Merapi
The eruption of Mount Merapi in 2010 devastated the villages around its peak. Sokola raised donations and distributed aid directly to affected villages.
Omah Bocah
Sokola raised aid, sent volunteers and distributed aid to survivors of the earthquake disaster in Bantul, DI Yogyakarta in May 2006. Sokola also established a shelter where children can play and learn safely while their parents work for rebuilding houses and villages.
Sokola Ijo
Sokola carried out the Sokola Ijo (green school) program and the rebuilding of the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah (MIM) School in Karangdowo Klaten, Central Java which was completely destroyed by an earthquake in May 2006. MIM School was architecturally designed and built to anticipate earthquakes and to be environmentally and children friendly .
Adonara
In early April 2021, flash floods hit Adonara, NTT and claimed many lives and materials. Hakola Humba together with volunteer friends took the initiative to raise funds and distribute them in the form of basic food assistance, supplies, and trauma healing activity for children.
