Beatrix Gracella

Beatrix is an education specialist focused on alternative and community-centered learning models. She holds a degree from the Faculty of Forestry at IPB University, where she also served as Chairperson of the IPB Nature and Outdoor Activist Organization, Lawalata IPB, and participated as a special auditor at the Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education, Hokkaido University. Beatrix’s expertise encompasses facilitating research-based education at SALAM, a pioneering alternative education initiative in Yogyakarta. Currently, she serves as the director of Sokola Institute. She has experience as the principal of Sokola Rimba in Jambi, where she plays a pivotal role in developing community-driven educational modules with the Orang Rimba youth. These modules integrate traditional knowledge, literacy, and formal education to support self-determination and advocacy. Additionally, Beatrix contributes to teacher training initiatives in North Lombok and Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, to enhance education in diverse and challenging environments.
